Wondering about Wanderlust? — A Wanderlust Review

It doesn’t take long, maybe 5 or 10 minutes, before Paul Rudd and Jennifer Anniston bust out the awkwardness. This fantastic piece of romance/comedy/nakedness comes from the people that brought us Role Models (another great Paul Rudd movie).

George (Rudd) and his wife (Anniston) are headed down to Atlanta, or like the kids say, HOTlanta, when they stop by a Bed & Breakfast—which is actually a commune, a society of people living off the earth—and the adventure begins.

"What is it?" "It's a stick with some orange peels"

A nice parting gift — Thanks?

There are nudists, standard hippies, free-lovers, people of the earth, basically your garden variety of ‘different’ people. Nothing is kept secret in this society. There are no doors. No, not even on the bathroom which makes for some uncomfortable bathroom sessions. But once the government attempts to purchase the land to put up a casino, things get dicey. It’s time to save the commune!

It was interesting to see Anniston play a role so far removed from what she usually does. I’ve heard her role in Horrible Bosses is up there as far as weirdness goes, but this was something new for me. It’s not too often you get to see Rachel Green get high in the woods, talk to inanimate objects and try to fly. It was pretty dang funny if you ask me.

I don't know what you're saying...

Paul Rudd’s ‘George’ gets, just a tiny bit, inappropriate and less-than-skillful practicing his  ’bedroom talk’.

Rudd was perfect in his role. He was made for the “awkward, I don’t know how to let loose, hey there’s a pretty girl I want to ‘talk’ to—I can’t stop saying stupid things,” kinda guy.

This is definitely not a family-friendly movie. I think the “there are nudists” part maybe spoke volumes to that. That said, I would highly recommend this movie to Paul Rudd or Jennifer Anniston fans. It’s right up there with the Role Models, I Love You, Man, Forgetting Sarah Marshall types of comedies. Awkward humor at it’s best. I enjoyed it greatly.

IRON MAN 3 REVIEW (and a Lammy update)

Iron Man 3
What can I say about Iron Man 3 that hasn’t already been said? Tony Stark is back and he has some new toys! I thought the first 10 – 15 minutes of this movie moved insanely fast. I felt like I was being pushed through the fun stuff (seeing War Machine Iron Patriot’s new armor for one). I thoroughly enjoyed the action scenes. It was good to see Tony Stark fighting people outside of his suit. It shows that he is able to hold his own without the suit. It’s just a nice upgrade over his normal self. When it came to the last 10 minutes of the movie, I felt things kind of slowed down a bit. It was a strange feeling. Speaking of the last 10 minutes…

HOLY JEEZ THERE ARE A BILLION OF THEM! Iron Man and his buddies take on every Twilight-extra known to man as they battle the Extremis (infected? injected? enhanced?) goons in a shipyard, because hey, why not? Having not read any of the Iron Man comics, I was/am completely unaware of what Extremis is. The movie did a decent job explaining it, but I felt like there was so much more that could have been done with it. Maybe it could have been something that carried over to Iron Man 4? I was also bummed by the lack of an Avengers cameo, but I suppose I can wait for Thor 2 for that.

All in all I would give Iron Man 3 an 8/10. It had everything the casual fan would want, plus more. And you can’t ever go wrong with a sweaty Gwyneth Paltrow.

Lammy Update
Unfortunately Cody and I didn’t win the Lammy for Best Vlog. I have to say, it would have been pretty sweet to hoist up the virtual trophy and slap a sweet graphic on our site claiming victory for ourselves, but it’s probably for the best. If we had won, we probably would have been offered a lucrative contract from some super awesome production company, all of the morning shows would have wanted us, and honestly, ain’t nobody got time for that.

The nomination was definitely appreciated. Thanks to Lindsay at French Toast Sunday for that. Congrats on your 2nd consecutive Best Design Lammy! You guys truly deserve it!

Howdy Internet folks!

We are honored (surprised!) to announce that we’ve been nominated for a LAMMY AWARD in the Best Vlog category! Pretty awesome if you ask us.

You can click the banner to the left to view all of the nominees, but really, we’re the only one you need to know about. Well, us and French Toast Sunday, because they rule.

Anyway, wish us luck and who knows… maybe we’ll get a reunion show in line, if only this summer had some good movies coming out…
