You know it’s a good day when you can start it off with some geeky STAR TREK 2 news! It’s not every day that an actor let’s it slip who the villain will be in the sequel. Continue for possible spoilers.
Karl Urban, who is returning as Bones, accidentally confirmed Benedict Cumberbatch’s role in the new Trek film. Urban said of Cumberbatch, “He’s awesome, he’s a great addition, and I think his Gary Mitchell is going to be exemplary.”
Gary Mitchell, for those unaware, is an old friend and academy buddy of Kirk’s. After some bizarre events occur on board the Enterprise, things will get interesting.
It was originally thought that Cumberbatch would be portraying the legendary Khan, but those rumors have been squashed by his co-stars. Khan would have been a sweet addition, but perhaps we’ll get that treat in Star Trek 3.
Read on for Assassin’s Creed movie news!
In equally awesome geeky news, Michael Fassbender is set to star in the film adaptation of Ubisoft‘s Templar-hunting, building-jumping, leap-of-faith-taking video game Assassin’s Creed. It has not been revealed, however, which of the assassin’s Fassbender will be playing; Altair, Ezio (pictured) or Connor.
As a fan of both the video game franchise and Michael Fassbender, I’m pretty excited about this news. Yes, movies based on video games don’t have the greatest track record, but Fassbender is set to co-produce the movie as well, so I have some faith in this one.
That’s it for this Monday morning folks.
